Former Chelsea star David Luiz has recounted how he was brushed aside by Roman Abramovich before the 2012 UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian star played for Chelsea through the pain and scored in the penalty shoot-out which helped the Stamford Bridge landlords to win the title in Munich.
But before the final, the former Arsenal star met outgoing Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich who asked the Brazilian some questions about his fitness.
According to the report on Express UK and Daily Post, David Luiz explained that Roman Abramovich was unable to look into his face before the clash against Bayern.
David Luiz's reaction about Abramovich
“Roman Abramovich spoke to me on the day of the game and asked, ‘How is your leg?’
“I told him, ‘It does not matter, I play with my head and my heart’.
“He said, ‘Go away, I don’t want to see your face, I am so nervous!’ I said to him, ‘Don’t worry, we will win’.
“But it could have gone badly wrong. Imagine if I’d been forced off after 10 minutes, or I made a mistake for a goal because I could not run? It was a big, big decision.”
