Asante Kotoko supporters leader, Nana Kwame Dankwah has urged the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to convince Franck Mbella Etouga to switch his allegiance, reports Saddick Adams.

Etouga, who joined Asante Kotoko at the start of the 2021/22 season, has been a goal scoring menace in the local topflight racking up 13 goals in just 12 games.

His goal scoring prowess has propelled the Porcupine Warriors to a league title scalp as the Kumasi-based outfit leads the league table with a whopping ten-point gap.

The 20-year-old has banged in two hattricks in his impressive debut season. He was recently crowned as the best player in the Ghana Premier League for the month of January.

His mindblowing figures has led to many mooting he can help the goalscoring deficiencies Ghana has faced since the exit of Asamoah Gyan.

Echoing the growing argument, National Circles Council - Asante Kotoko supporters group - vice chairman, Nana Kwame Dankwah has prayed the GFA convinces Etouga to ditch his native Cameroon.

The Black Stars are billed to square off against regional rivals Nigeria in a titanic World Cup qualifier later this month.

The winner of the two-legged encounter will seal a berth at the FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

Ghana FA open talks with English-born striker Antoine Semenyo

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has taken the initiative to convince English-born striker Antoine Semenyo to represent Ghana at the international level.

The London-born forward, who plays for Bristol City has been in good form in the English championship, raising the eyebrows of the federation.

According to reports, the 22-year-old has agreed to play for the Black Stars of Ghana pending approval from the Federation of International Football (FIFA).

Franck Mbella wins player of the month award for January

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Asante Kotoko striker Franck Etouga has won the Ghana Premier League Player of the Month award for January following his outstanding performance for the club.

The Cameroonian striker annexed two player of the match awards and scored five goals in four league appearances during the month under review as he has established himself as their reliable source for goals this campaign.

Etouga finished ahead of Ashantigold's Yaw Annor and Umar Bashiru of Karela United to clinch the monthly award.
