Emmanuel Adebayor is set to make a major comeback in football following reports he is joining Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko.

According to Sportsworldghana, the legendary Togo international has agreed to join the Porcupine Warriors on a short term deal.

The former Arsenal and Real Madrid star has been inactive since leaving Paraguayan side Club Olimpia in 2020.

Joining the Ghana Premier League will be huge for the domestic league after Sulley Aliu Muntari moved to Hearts of Oak a fortnight ago.

Asante Kotoko want to strengthen their attack by adding the Togolese to leading scorer Frank Mbella Etouga.

The Reds are currently top of the Ghana Premier League table after the first round, and will begin the second round of the campaign against Dreams FC on Sunday, February 27.

Adebayor's stellar career in Europe

Emmanuel Adebayor began his European career at FC Metz in France, where he score 15 goals in 44 appearances before he was snatched by giants AS Monaco. At Monaco, the Togolese's outstanding displays saw Arsene Wenger bring him to Arsenal in England.

After scoring 46 goals in 105 appearances, mega-rich Manchester City came calling and Adebayor did not think twice as he left London for Manchester. He was later loaned to Real Madrid and Tottenham before finally joining the latter.

At the twilight of his career, he played for Crystal Palace, Istanbul Baseksehir and Kayserispor in Europe.

Kotoko hold Hearts in Accra

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the first installment of the Super Clash between Ghana's most glamorous clubs Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended in a goalless stalemate.

The titanic clash garnered massive attention before the encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium and the two decorated clubs did not disappoint.

In photos posted on social media, the match saw huge attendance from fans of both sides as the points were split.
