Eriksen collapsed during Denmark's opening game at the Euro 2020 against Finland, and the game had to be stopped as it took almost ten minutes to revive him.

The condition led to the termination of his contract at Inter Milan based on medical grounds.

The attacking midfielder now plays with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator and hopes to play for few more years before hanging up his boots.

The Denmark midfielder expressed delight in making his return to competition action since last year.

Eriksen replaced Mathias Jensen in the 62nd minute of Brentford's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

"If you take away the result, I'm one happy man. To go through what I've been through, being back is a wonderful feeling," Eriksen said after the game.
"You can never predict the game. I don't think anyone predicted we'd be down to 10 men so early. The guys did what they could. It was a good fight in the end. It's been very special since day one."
