This will be Eriksen's first competitive match since he suffered a cardiac arrest while in action for Denmark during the Euro 2020.

The versatile midfielder sent the world into panic after he fell to the ground in the 43rd minute of the continental tournament against Finland.

His national teammates shielded his motionless body as he received CPR before he was rushed to hospital.

The former Tottenham star has since recovered and now has a heart defibrillator fitted on him.

However, his condition meant he would not continue playing for Inter Milan owing to Series A rules, leading to his release from the Italian club.

Eriksen's return to football

However, the Denmark international is in line to make an emotional return to football after he joined Brentford on a six-month contract.

While the midfielder is yet to arrive in the UK, he is expected to link up with his new teammates in the coming days.

Brentford have an upcoming FA Cup fixture against Everton on Saturday, February 5, which will undoubtedly be too early for him.

The Bees' next assignment will be a meeting with Man City in the Premier League next Wednesday which has also been touted as too soon.

As such, Eriksen's only feasible debut for Brentford will be during their clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday, February 12.

Tuchel wants Real star

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Thomas Tuchel is said to have prioritised the signing of a defender with the futures of Rudiger, Christensen, and Azpilicueta still unclear.

Tuchel reportedly has Eder Militao in mind and has informed Chelsea chiefs of his desire to have the Real Madrid defender within his ranks.

The Brazilian defender is contracted at Santiago Bernabeu until 2025 having joined the Spanish side from Porto in 2019.
