Ghanaian playmaker Yaw Yeboah was crucial for his club, Columbus Crew, as they thrashed Vancouver Whitecaps 4-0 in the Major League Soccer on Saturday.
The attacking midfielder, who started the game, played an influential role in his team's triumph in their opening 2022 MLS game.
Yeboah showed his class in the 25th minute when he laid on an outrageous assist for Derrick Etienne to score the home side's second goal of the game.
Yeboah received the ball in the middle of their right attack with seemingly little on around him and provided curling through ball to United States-born striker to slot home.
Etienne's finish was not bad either as he hammered a rocket of a shot into the net, giving the goalkeeper no chance at all.
Yeboah lasted 69 minutes and he was subbed off by Diaz Luis but his Ghanaian compatriot, Jonathan Mensah played the entirety of the game.
How Columbus Crew thumped Vancouver Whitecaps
Columbus Crew took an early lead in the 8th minute after Miguel Berry slotted home a nice team goal.
Derrick Etienne made it two 17 minutes later after finishing off a remarkable through ball from Yaw Yeboah.
The home team continued their dominance in the second half as two late goals from Luis Diaz and Lucas Zelarayan were enough to hand them a 4-0 triumph on the afternoon.
