Heartbreaking video has emerged on social media where players of the Super Falcons of Nigeria were being locked at the Abuja international airport after their return from Ivory Coast.
Super Falcons on Wednesday, 23 February, defeated Ivory Coast 1-0 in Abidjan to qualify 3-0 on aggregate for the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations which will be held in Cameroon.
And after booking their place in the 2022 AWCON, Super Falcons faced the airport in Abidjan to return to Nigeria.
Upon their arrival in Abuja, the players of the Super Falcons were denied entry by the authorities in charge of the Abuja international airport.

FootballAccording to the video posted by Premium Times and news on Pulse, the Super Falcons were denied entry by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) .
The reason for their delay at the airport was because of the verification of their COVID test which the NCDC wanted to confirm before allowing them to leave.
Some players were also spotted crying in the video before they were released around 4:10 am early in the morning of 24 February.
The Nigerian Football Federation have not made any statement on the development even though the players have all left the Abuja airport.

According to a report via Soccernet, test results conducted on Ebuehi has now revealed that the Super Eagles defender has a lesion in the semitendinosus muscle of the left leg.
The injury means the Super Eagles defender is set to be on the sidelines for several weeks and might likely not be fit in time for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.
