2022 World Cup Playoffs: Panic As Super Eagles Star Set to Miss Ghana Tie Through Injury

Tyronne Ebuehi appears set to miss Nigeria’s crucial 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March after picking up an injury on Sunday, February 20.

The 26-year-old defender was on the pitch for just 30minutes before being subbed off after a nock on his left leg in Venezia’s 1-1 draw against Genoa.

According to a report via Soccernet, test results conducted on Ebuehi has now revealed that the Super Eagles defender has a lesion in the semitendinosus muscle of the left leg.

The injury means the Super Eagles defender is set to be on the sidelines for several weeks and might likely not be fit in time for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.

The Super Eagles have been scheduled to tackle their West African rivals on the 25th and 29th of March to determine one of Africa’s five World Cup representatives in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Amuneke has rejoiced at the news Ademola Lookman has agreed to be part of the Super Eagles team.

According to Daily Post, Amuneke believes Lookman is a great addition to the national team ahead of the World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March.

Lookman who had previously represented England at youth level was recently cleared by FIFA to switch allegiance from the Three Lions to Nigeria.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Richard Kingston has tipped his former teammate Sulley Muntari to return to the Black Stars for the upcoming World Cup playoff against Nigeria.

Coach Otto Addo's team will lock horns with the Super Eagles in the first leg of the final hurdle for the FIFA World Cup playoffs on March 25 at Cape Coast Stadium with the return leg scheduled for Abuja four days later.

And ahead of the fierce contest, Kingston, who is now the current goalkeeper's coach for Ghana, is backing the UEFA Champions League winner to earn a call up to the team.
