Hearts of Oak to face Asante Kotoko for President's Cup on March 4

Hearts of Oak will clash with Asante Kotoko in a second different competition at the Accra Sports Stadium for the annual President's Cup match.

The Phobians have agreed to honour the match against the current league leaders on March 4 in Accra.

The President Cup match is played to commemorate Ghana’s republic day celebrations which will have President Akufu Addo in attendance.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have met once already this season with the match ending in a statement last Sunday.

This will be the second time the two powerhouses of Ghana football have to meet this season.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have met once already this season with the match ending in a statement last Sunday.

With the introduction of this game, the two teams will face each other three times this season with return leg in the Ghana Premier League yet to be played.

Hearts and Kotoko have won between them 44 league titles since the inception of Ghana’s Premier competition.

Kotoko beat Hearts of win 2019 President's Cup

Asante Kotoko were crowned champions of the last President's Cup played in 2019 following a 2-1 home victory over Hearts of Oak.

Kofi Kordzi opened the scoring for the Phobians before a Mohammed Alhassan own goal and a Naby Laye Keita effort secured a comeback win for the Porcupine Warriors at Kumasi's Baba Stadium.

Asante Kotoko have won the President's Cup six times whiles Hearts of Oak can boast of two titles.

Sulley Muntari’s phone stolen at Hearts vs Kotoko game

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Hearts of Oak midfielder Sulley Muntari's mobile phone was stolen moments after his side's crunch game against rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

The 37-year-old put up an incredible performance in the Super Clash and lasted 52 minutes in the 0-0 draw with the Porcupine Warriors.

And after the game, it has emerged that the theft took place when the former AC Milan midfielder voluntarily decided to do a photoshoot session with some of the fans.
