Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng has revealed that he had to convince teammate Ousmane Dembélé to stay prior to his move to Spain.

Dembélé was reportedly on the verge of leaving Barcelona after he was asked to take a pay cut due to the Barcelona's financial troubles.

However, Aubamayeng who played with Dembélé as Borussia Dortmund persuaded the Frenchman to stay.

"To tell the truth, I am very happy that he is here and when I arrived I told him: 'You have to stay, bro!,'" Aubameyang said to Mundo Deportivo.
"It is something very special [to play with him] because we had an incredible year in Dortmund and he is an incredible player. Ousmane is one of the best on the ball and as a striker he is incredible.
"I don't know [if he'll stay], but the only thing I can say is that everything is possible in life."

Dembélé's contract at Barcelona expires in the summer transfer window and it is unclear if he will extend his stay or leave.

Ousmane Dembélé to leave Barcelona

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Frenchman Ousmane Dembele’s spell at Barcelona is set to come to an abrupt end as the club confirmed he would be sold in January.

Sports Brief had reported about the ultimatum Barca coach Xavi had given the winger – to either sign a new deal or exit the club in the current transfer window.

Fresh reports now indicate that Dembele is unwilling to sign a new deal, and the club are now determined to cash in on him.

Aubamayeng sends Arteta message after first hat-trick at Barcelona

Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has scored his first goals for Spanish club Barcelona to send an awkward message to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, Mirror reports.

The Gunner’s boss had claimed that the player has always failed to apply himself in training, but the former Africa Footballer of the Year responded as he netted a hat-trick for the Catalan giants.

Auba is beginning to settle at the Spanish club as he found the back of the net three times against Valencia on Sunday, helping Barcelona to a 4-1 win at the Camp Nou.
