It appears the race for the DStv Diski Challenge title has a while to go yet.

Log leaders Orlando Pirates, who were a comfortable seven points ahead of chasing Stellenbosch Football Club two weekends ago, are now sweating as the lead is now down one point.

Soccer Laduma reported that the Buccaneers were upset 3-2 by Chippa United 3-2 in Gqeberha. Thulani Mini, Azole Matrose and Vuyolwethu Dinge floored the visitors with three quick-fire goals, with Siphamandla Mdunge and Boitumelo Radiopane's late goals too late to mount a comeback.

Supersport.com detailed how Stellenbosch continued their hunt of Pirates with a thumping 3-0 over Mamelodi Sundowns. Solly Khunyedi, Jared van der Burg and Liam de Kock ensured the Maroons put the Brazilians to the sword.

Elsewhere, Kaizer Chiefs continued its winning run of form, seeing off Amazulu courtesy of Keletso Sifama and Keviano Francis.

Cape Town City defeated Baroka FC in a rollercoaster of a thriller. City Captain Thabang Molaoa fired in a hat-trick together with a single goal from Mihlali Blessi were enough to put Bakgaga Ba Mphalele.

Goals from Ryan Bennett, Ayanda Ngcobo And Sphamandla Ntombela boosted Maritzburg United to a 3-2 win of Swallows FC. Sekele Sithole and Banele Sibiya got onto the scoreboad for the Dube Birds.

The KwaZulu Natal Derby saw Royal AM and Golden Arrows draw 2-2. Khulekani Shezi bagged a brace for AM, while Siyabonga Khumalo did the same for Arrows in an entertaining grudge match.

TS Galaxy hammered Sekhukhune United in the other Diski Challenge match.

Al Ittihad Tripoli defeat Orlando Pirates, Libyan champions beat Buccaneers in Confederation Cup classic

It was not a good weekend for Orlando Pirates' senior team, either.

As reported on Sports Brief, Al Ittihad Tripoli made good on their promise to bury Orlando Pirates as the Libyan side beat the Buccaneers 3-2 in a classic Confederation Cup encounter.

The Libyan champions overcame a determined Sowetan side who kept scoring every time they went behind, but sadly, the Buccaneers couldn’t repeat the feat for the third time.
