  • Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng netted his first and second goals for Spanish giants Barcelona
  • The former Arsenal captain was the star of the Blaugranas as they whitewashed Valencia 4-1 in La Liga on Sunday
  • The victory sends Barcelona fourth on the Spanish topflight table as they continue to chase Champions League spot after a poor start to the season

Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng needed only three La Liga games to open his goal scoring account for Barcelona after netting a brace in their big win against Valencia.

The Gabonese forward, who joined the Catalan giants on winter transfer deadline day was the star of Barcelona in a rampant first half.

The 32-year-old forward broke the game's deadlock after 23 minutes when he raced onto a long pass from Jordi Alba before finishing off brilliantly.

Valencia thought they had leveled moments later after Jose Gaya's cross was turned in by Andre Ter Stegen but the goal was ruled offside.

Barcelona then doubled their lead in the 32nd minute after a clever play from Sergino Dest found Jordi Alba, who released the ball to Ousmane Dembele and he squared it up for Frenkie De Jong who rolled it in.

Aubamayeng scored his second and Barcelona's thirds with seven minutes to half time but Valencia responded after the break through Carlos Soler.

Spanish youngster Pedri then sealed victory for Barcelona with a belter after the hour mark.

The victory lifts Barcelona above Atletico Madrid to fourth on the La Liga table after a very poor start to the season.

Aubamayeng has now scored two goals in three La Liga games for Barcelona since joining from Arsenal in the winter transfer window.
