Former Ghana national U-23 coach Ibrahim Tanko has landed a Technical director role at Ghana Premier League club Accra Lions.
The former Dortmund player has been out of a job since leaving his role as the head coach of the Local Black Stars after just five months in charge of the team.
The 44-year old was heavily linked with the Black Stars job following the dismissal of coach Milovan Rajevac but the FA instead settled for former Black Stars player Otto Addo.
Tanko is vastly experienced having previously held roles as the assistant coach of the Cameroonian National team and the Black Stars.
He also helped the Black Meteors secure qualification for the first time in 12 years at the U-23 Africa cup of Nations held in Egypt in 2019.
Our sources can confirm that the experienced gaffer is set to be unveiled in his new role at Accra Lions today.
The Premier League new comers have endured a difficult maiden campaign in the Ghana Premier League and sit 15th on the league log- just one point above the relegation zone.
The Accra-based club is hoping the appointment of the former Freiburg reserve coach will boost their survival chances.
Borussia Dortmund Legends To Be Appointed New Ghana Assistant Coaches
Former Black Stars attackers Otto Addo and Ibrahim Tanko are set to named as the new deputy coaches of the senior national team of Ghana.
The duo, who played for German club Borussia Dortmund in the 90s and early 2000s, will assist incoming coach Chris Hughton.
Their first assignment is to eliminate Nigeria over two legs in the World Cup qualifying playoffs next month and qualify for the Mundial which will be staged in Qatar later this year.
