Spanish club Sevilla have now joined Barcelona in the race to sign Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar according to reports from Soccernet.
It was gathered that Los Nervionenses are desperate in bolstering their attack and have now made the Nigerian star one of their summer targets.
Umar has been in dazzling form for Almeria in the Spanish Segunda division having joined from Partizan Belgrade in October 2020.
The 25-year-old has been Almeria’s best player since he joined and is said to be one of the deadliest strikers in Spanish football.
He scored 20 goals in 38 appearances last season and so far this season he has netted 10 times having made 22 appearances.
The Super Eagles star’s brilliant displays have not gone unnoticed. Last summer, Umar was linked to Barcelona and Newcastle, but nothing concrete emerged from those talks.
Under coach Lopetegui, Sevilla have proven themselves to be title contenders. This season, they sit second, four points behind Real Madrid.
Umar’s addition to the side might give them the vital push they need to claim the La Liga title.

The Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta is hoping to improve his squad’s attack, but he will need to convince Italian side Napoli to sell the Super Eagles player.
It was gathered that Tottenham are also monitoring the player’s situation in Italy as Antonio Conte is also said to be interested.

Sports Brief earlier reported that English Premier League club Newcastle United have reportedly made Nigeria’s Moses Simon their key target and will offer him a mouthwatering deal, Geordie Boot Boys reports.
The Super Eagles forward who can play from both wings could leave French side Nantes to join the Magpies during the summer.
It was gathered that the 26-year-old could cost the English club around £20 million as they are also willing to offer him a contract worth £100,000-a-week in wages, which should not be an issue for Newcastle’s owners.
