Joe began his football career in 2014 with Staines Town in the Isthmian League Premier Division, where Marcus Gayle coached him. That year, he was named the club's academy player. He then joined Charlton Athletic in September 2015, signing a one-year deal in May 2016.

On October 16, 2016, he made his first appearance for Andrew Crofts in a 2–0 defeat against Crawley Town. In the 2018-19 season, Charlton offered him a new contract. In a 4-0 win over St Joseph's of Gibraltar on July 9, 2019, he made his Rangers debut.
