Spanish giants Barcelona have sealed a staggering whopping £237million sponsorship deal which could consequently see their stadium renamed.
Music platform Spotify has agreed to a mouthwatering deal with the Catalan giants as the cash strapped club had to sign the deal.
SunSport reports that Spotify’s logo will now be crested on both the shirts and training attire of the LaLiga club’s men’s and women’s teams.
Spanish outlet RAC1 reports via Marca that the stadium’s naming rights are also on the clause after Barcelona began to allow naming rights in their shirts from 2006.
Over a decade ago, it was Unicef charity that became the first and then in 2011, the Catalan club broke the tradition having signed a deal with Qatar Foundation, which eventually became Qatar Airways, until 2017.
And one year later Rakuten agreed a €55m-a-year agreement with the club, but that will expire at the end of the ongoing season
Barcelona have been reviewing options in the last few months, and despite the much-publicised financial woes that led to the departure of Lionel Messi and huge pay-cuts, they are still attracting plenty of commercial interest.
Barcelona CEO resigns
A fresh crisis may hit Spanish giants Barcelona as the chief executive officer of the club Ferran Reverter has left his role due to what he described as personal reasons.
Reverter only became the CEO at the club in July 2021, having joined from German company MediaMarkt, but he has endured a tumultuous period in the job.
