Algeria, who were eliminated in the group stages of the 2021 AFCON took home $4.5 million at the time.

Who stands to win the 2021 AFCON?

Only three teams are left in the ongoing 2021 AFCON, with Senegal already through to the final after they saw off Burkina Faso in the semis.

The Lions of Teranga hammered Burkina Faso 3-1 on Wednesday, February 1, to confirm their place in the final.

Cameroon and Egypt are the other two teams still actively in the competition, with the football heavyweights set to fight it out for a spot in the final.

What other AFCON participants will take home

Despite the winner of 2021 AFCON being guaranteed the eyewatering amount in prize cash, other participants are also sure to take something home.

The tournament's runners-up are sure to bag $2.75million, with semi-finalists getting $2.2 million each.

On their part, all the teams that cashed out in the quarter-finals stage will get $1.8 million.

Salah sends Egypt to AFCON semis

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Mo Salah stepped up to inspire Egypt to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Liverpool ace scored once and set up another as the Pharaohs stunned Morocco 2-1 to reach the last four of the competition.

Egypt will now face off against hosts Cameroon for a chance to reach the final.

Burkina Faso and Senegal are scheduled to battle it out in the other semi.
