- Amazulu midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe will join Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season when his contract expires with Amazulu
Siyethemba Sithebe’s future at Amazulu remains in doubt as the transfer saga between Amazulu and Kaizer Chiefs rages on.
Sithebe agreed to join the Amakhosi at the end of the current season when his contract with the Usuthu ends, but Amazulu owner Sandile Zungu wasn’t happy with the way the Sowetan club approached the player.
Last week Zungu promised that Sithebe would never wear the Amazulu jersey again while he was at the club, but coach Benni McCarthy has a different take on the matter.
According to the Sowetan LIVE, Benni said that the player would be given game time if he gave his all during training.
“When it comes to the training field and if the player gives me 100% and works hard then, of course, I have to consider it,” McCarthy said.
Soccer Laduma is reporting though that Sithebe may not remain at Amazulu until the end of his contract. According to the site, Kaizer Chiefs have stepped up their efforts to sign the player before the January transfer window closes today.
Chiefs originally tried to sign the player by offering Amazulu two players in exchange, but Zungu labelled the players as rejects and said that the club was not a dumping ground for other teams’ unwanted players.
Both teams have until midnight tonight to agree on a deal for the midfielder.

FootballAmazulu's owner Sandile Zungu reacted angrily to the news of the agreement, believing that the Amakhosi approached Siyethemba Sithebe before they were legally allowed to do so, when the transfer window opened.
Sithebe is in his final six months of his contract with Amazulu and is therefore allowed to be approached by other clubs. Zungu punished the player, promising that he will never wear the Amazulu jersey during his last remaining months at the club.
