Fans of English Premier League club Liverpool will heave a sigh of relief as Sadio Mane posted an update from the hospital after a clash of heads with Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, Mirror reports.
The Senegalese captain was charging towards the danger area when he went for an aerial ball, only to clash his head with the opposition goalkeeper.
There was a concussion scare as both stars went down the turf and looked lost following the incident as the pair were sent off for treatment.
Senegal beat Cape Verde
Mane returned to the pitch and scored his side’s opener before he was replaced as he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Senegal eventually grabbed a second goal late on after Cape Verde were reduced to nine men, but the clash of heads remain the talking point from the game.
Mane has however calmed the nerves of both Senegal and Liverpool fans by posting a picture of himself and the opposition goalkeeper Vozinha.
Mane added the caption to his Instagram:
"Senegal vs Cape Verde in the pitch, in the hospital. Everything is fine, thank you all for the messages."
The incident happened after 70 minutes as Mane was charging through on goal, before being taken out by Vozinha, who received Cape Verde's second red card of the game.
Senegal coach reacts
Senegal head coach Cisse said after the final whistle, as reported by journalist Adama Ndione:
"Sadio had a big shock with the goalkeeper and I haven't heard from him yet, he was dizzy and he is currently in the hospital."
