Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has thanked Nigerians for the show of love despite that the team failed to go past the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Ahmed Musa who was not in action during the 1-0 loss to Tunisia stated that the team gave their very best, but it turned the other way round.
Augustine Eguavoen’s men reached the knockout stage of the competition with a 100% record completing three wins from three matches, GOAL reports.
There are mixed reactions back home following the loss as some Nigerians are furious with the team, while others have shown support.
Musa speaks
Leading from the front, Musa says the team will do better next time as the Super Eagles will now prepare for the World Cup qualifying playoffs against Ghana in March.
Musa said on Facebook:
“In life, things wouldn't always go the way we want them to and that's something we have to accept however hard it is. We gave our 100% and unfortunately that wasn't good enough to take us through.
“We won't give up, we will do better next time. Thanks for all your support and prayers. You make it all worthwhile.”
Musa donates $1,500 to Mosque in Garoua
Just before his departure from Cameroon, Ahmed Musa donated the sum of $1,500 to Central Mosque in Garoua.
The former Premier League star is a devoted Muslim and has many times exhibited his faith and belief to his followers on social media.

Iwobi tenders apology to Nigerians
Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has tendered an apology to Nigerians after the Super Eagles were knocked out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Iwobi was sent off just seven minutes after coming on as a substitute for Kelechi Iheanacho, but received his marching orders after his yellow card for a challenge on Youssef Msakni was upgraded to red after a VAR check.
The Super Eagles midfielder took to his Instagram account to apologize to Nigerians and promised that the team will bounce back stronger.
