  • Badra Ali Sangare was in goal on Sunday night, January 16, for Ivory Coast in their 2-2 draw against Sierra Leone
  • The 35-year-old goalkeeper also got injured in the match after slipping and he is expected to be out of next game

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare has lost his dear father just hours after his howler against Sierra Leone at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Badra Ali Sangare and his teammates were minutes away from getting a win against Sierra Leone before the goalkeeper slipped and injured which gave Alhaji Kamara the equalizer in match that ended 2-2.

Sebastien Haller scored the first goal for Ivory Coast in the first half, but Sierra Leone restored parity early in the second half through Musa Kamara.

Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe restored the lead for Ivory Coast in the 65th minute before Alhaji Kamara benefited from Sangare's slippery to tap in equalizer at the death.

According to the confirmation by CAF, they made it clear that goalkeeper Badra Sangare was informed about the demise of his father on Monday morning, January 17.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Serge Aurier who plays for Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday night, January 16, turned to a goalkeeper while featuring for his nation Ivory Coast at the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon.

There were serious drama in the encounter between Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone which ended 2-2 as Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe scored the second goal for his country.

Having won their first game at the ongoing AFCON, Ivory Coast went into the encounter against Sierra Leone with the aim of winning and pick the ticket for the knockout stage.

But the battle against Sierra Leone was not an easy one for them as they allowed their opponents to score late equalizer in the match.
