Former Fulham defender John Painstil reveals toughest EPL opponent he faced

Former Ghana defender, John Painstil says he preferred playing against Cristiano Ronaldo than ex-Manchester United star Ji-Sung Park during his days in the English Premier League.

According Painstil, the South Korean could run him down the flanks and never gets tired, making it difficult to keep an eye on him.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Painstil did not mince his wards after he was asked who his toughest opponent was.

"It was Ji-Sung Park of Manchester United who gave me a tough time in the Premier League. Anytime Fulham plays Manchester United I prefer Ronaldo than him coming to my side," he said.

John Painstil move to England after the 2006 World Cup, where he joined West Ham United, but after a tough start to his career in London, he switched club.

Painstil joined West Ham's London rivals Fulham, and it was at the Craven Cottage that the ex-Hapoel Tel Aviv player will flourish, helping the club to the Europa League final in 2010. He ended up making 75 appearances for the club between 2008 to 2011.

He also had a stellar senior team career with the Black Stars, playing a pivotal role in the West African powerhouse's first World Cup appearance in 2006. He was also a member of the Black Stars team that reached the final of the 2010 AFCON and the quarter finals of the 2010 World Cup.
