A first-half striker from Kelechi Iheanacho was enough for Augustine Eguavoen’s side to claim all three points and take charge of Group D at the tournament.

Musa is expected to return to the squad when the team take on Sudan in their next group game as, he will extend his record as Nigeria’s all-time player with most caps of 103.

And ahead of their game against Sudan, Musa inspired his followers on social media when he wrote:

“There's a power deep within you, the power to create the life you want. Stop overthinking and start using your power.”

Meanwhile, Ahmed has clearly that the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon will be his last for the three-time African champions.

The former Leicester City forward made his debut with Nigeria’s senior national team in 2010 and he still remains part of the squad.

Musa was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 AFCON tournament back in 2013 under the tutelage of Stephen Keshi.

Shortly after their game against Egypt, Musa urged his teammates to fight hard and win 2021 AFCON title as he also declared it would be his last AFCON tournament.

“I have spoken to the boys that this is the only gift you can give to me. Because this is my last AFCON. And the boys told me that they are ready.
“My first AFCON was in South Africa in 2013 and we ended winning it. And my second appearance was in Egypt and we won the bronze.”
