Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng will be looking at putting his recent troubles behind him when Gabon face Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.

The Arsenal star and Gabon captain looks to have recovered from COVID-19, which kept him out of his country's group C opener against Comoros Island.

But the forward confirmed his availability with a post on his Instagram story, showing him training with the Panthers.

His return is huge boost for Gabon, who need just a win to secure their place in the last 16 of the Nations Cup.

Meanwhile, the defence of Ghana will have the huge task of keeping the prolific goal scorer at bay if they are to defeat Gabon.

The Black Stars have not exited the tournament at group stages since the 2006 edition in Egypt.

Ghana lost their first game to Morocco and can revive their chances of progressing to the next stage with victory on Friday.

The four times Africa champions will then face debutants, the Comoros Island, on Tuesday January 18.

GFA boss confident of victory against Gabon

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has expressed satisfaction with the display of the Black Stars in the defeat to Morocco on Monday.

The GFA boss is confident the Black Stars will bounce back from the opening day loss and get the needed results against Gabon and Comoros.

In an interview with the media in Cameroon, Kurt Okraku sounded confident and believes the team will progress to the next stage of the tournament.
