Victor Wanyama Delighted After Landing Ambassadorial Role

Former Kenyan international Victor Wanyama has expressed his delight after he landed an ambassadorial role with Wild Aid Africa.

Wild Aid Africa is a non-profit organisation that campaigns for the protection of wildlife in Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Gabon, Cameroon, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

Wanyama took to social media to share the incredible news of his new role with his followers, divulging that he joined the organization to make a contribution to wildlife protection.

"I am excited to announce that I have signed up to be a wildlife ambassador with @WildAidAfrica," the former Harambee Stars captain tweeted.
"I truly believe that wildlife is more valuable alive, so I’m joining Wild Aid to speak out against illegal wildlife trafficking," he added.

Meanwhile, the midfielder's role at Wild Aid Africa will see him link up with several global celebrities who are currently serving as ambassadors at the organizations.

The celebrities include actors Jackie Chan and Leonardo Do Caprio and Hollywood actress with Kenyan roots, Lupita Nyong'o.

Manchester United legend David Beckham and British tycoon Sir Richard Branson are also ambassadors.

Fans congratulate Wanyama on Wild Aid Africa role

A number of Wanyama's fans took time to send him messages of goodwill in his new role.

One said:

"Nice one big Vic. Hope they know you are The original Lion of Muthurwa."

A second posted:

"Well done Victor, wishing you every success in your role."

Another replied:

"Good for you, Victor. A very worthwhile thing to do."

While a fourth added:

"Good man. Doing good things."

Kenyan midfielder amputated

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Kenyan teenage footballer Wisdom Naya has had his left leg amputated in India following a cancer diagnosis.

Naya was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare group of cancers in 2021 and was later in the year flown to India for further treatment.

However, doctors are understood to have recommended to have his left leg amputated.
