Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday evening, January 7, defeated Cameroonian giants Coton Sport 2-0 in a friendly match played in Garoua ahead of first AFCON game against Egypt.

Austin Eguavoen demanded that a friendly match be played for his wards so as for him to see their level of readiness before facing the seven-time African champions.

The Super Eagles actually paraded two teams against Coton Sport with Maduka Okoye first in goal, while the duo of Ahmed Musa and Taiwo Awoniyi led the attack.

When did the Super Eagles score first goal?

Super Eagles of Nigeria scored their first goal in the 30th minute through captain Ahmed Musa who benefited from an assist by Chidera Ejuke.

The hosts also tried to restore parity before the end of the first half, but Maduka Okoye was impressive in his department.

Coach Eguavoen changed his team in the second half with only Iwobi and Zaidu retaining their position as Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze netted the second goal for Nigeria.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how mother of Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze has won the hearts of many Nigerian football lovers after being spotted holding the legs of her son and prayed for him.

It was an adorable moment when Samuel Chukwueze reached out to his mother to inform her he is heading to join his Super Eagles teammates for the AFCON.

And as a caring mother, the precious woman went on her knees in front of her son and started praying for the Villarreal winger who is among the top Super Eagles players for the Nations Cup.

Samuel's mother was happy that her son will be representing Nigeria at the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
