French outlet L’Equipe are reporting that Icardi is now on the radar of the Premier League club should Martial and Cavani exit this January.

Icardi has been impressive for PSG having scored 38 goals in 82 matches since joining from Italian giants Inter Milan in 2019 on a one-year deal. He then made the deal permanent in 2020.

The Argentina international, 28, has struggled for consistent game time this season but has managed to score five goals in his 20 appearances, Mirror reports.

United have not made contact with PSG over the striker but are said to be preparing an approach, if Martial and Cavani move closer to leaving.

Man Utd fans applaud Phil Jones

Meanwhile, Phil Jones was heavily applauded by Manchester United faithful on Monday, January 3 after making his first start for the Red Devils in 712 days.

Heartwarming footage has emerged online showing the centre back nearly in tears as he walks out of Old Trafford as applause ring all round for his stellar performance.

Jones had to start for the Red Devils, in the absence of Harry Maguire, who suffered a knock, and Victor Lindelof is still recovering from Covid-19.

In the video shared by Manchester United on their social media, Jones appears very emotional as he hears his name being chanted by fans to the point of tears.

Anthony Martial linked with Barcelona

Sports Brief earlier reported that struggling Manchester United forward Anthony Martial might just be on his way out of Old Trafford as Spanish Giants Barcelona have intensified interest in the French forward.

The 26-year old has struggled to make an impact in the United first team and has been relegated to being a bit-part player, which has prompted the former AS Monaco star to seek a move away from Ralf Ragnick’s side.

Martial has made just seven league appearances for Manchester United all season with just two starts to his name and the striker has not featured for the Red Devils since the first week of December.
