The Atlas Lions of Morocco have been the talk of the town since the North Africans arrived in Cameroon for the start of the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations starting on Sunday, January 9.

The Moroccans arrived with an 86-man delegation ahead of the tournament comprising of 28 players, technical and administrative staff.

Hes Goals reports the North Africans are also not taking chances as they brought in their own food, cooks, mattresses, beds, and hotel staff to work in their temporary abode in Yaounde.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation took the decision to avoid any contamination of players in light of the coronavirus pandemic already plaguing some teams who have arrived in Cameroon for the AFCON with the Senegalese and Gabonese camps already dealing with the virus.

The Moroccan Federation has ensured rooms and other compartments at the team’s hotel in Yaounde are sterilized, while beddings and blankets have been replaced by those transported from the Kingdom.

Local hotel staff with direct contact to players have been replaced by those also ferried from Morocco, while security agents have also been brought in according to The Eagle Online.

Morocco are in Group C alongside four-time champions Ghana, Gabon and debutants Comoros.

Earlier Sportsbrief had reported Senegal's campaign for this month's African Cup of Nations has been thrown into serious chaos following the development of nine people including three players testing positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 has been troubling the whole world since the last two years and has had severe effect on footballers who play in different Leagues on earth.

Senegal were expected to leave Dakar on Tuesday night, January 4, for Cameroon, but they were stopped from traveling because of the COVID issues in the camp.
