FootballPremier League Club Newcastle Warned Against Signing Super Eagles Striker Ighalo Because he is Unreliable
- Robinson has warned Premier League club Newcastle against signing Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo who he believes is unreliable

- Newcastle are in desperate need of a striker after top goalscorer Callum Wilson suffered an injury in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United last month
Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed Newcastle United would be taking “a massive risk” if they sign Odion Ighalo in the winter transfer window.
Ighalo, who currently plays for Saudi Arabia outfit Al Shabab, has been rumoured to be one of the strikers being considered by Newcastle this month.
According to the report, the former Manchester United and Watford striker would seriously consider a move to St. James’ Park if the opportunity presents itself.
But speaking exclusively to Football Insider and cited on Daily Post, Robinson believes Ighalo is “unreliable” and urged the Magpies to look elsewhere.
“I think he’d be a massive risk. He is unreliable and I don’t think Newcastle are in a position where they can take risks.
“Financially, they are in a position where they can go and get a top-quality striker who is less of a risk than he is.
“It’s definitely a position they need to address though given that Wilson is out. To stay up they will need a striker to be scoring regularly.
“I just don’t think Ighalo is the player they are looking for,” Robinson said.
Ighalo has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions this season. He has 18 months left on his contract with Al Shabab.
While Newcastle on the other hand are currently without their top goalscorer Callum Wilson after he suffered an injury in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United last month.
