- Joao Moutinho scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute to hand Ralf Ragnick his first loss as Manchester United manager
- Ronaldo was only able to make three touches in the opposition box and had only one shot on goal against Wolves forcing Carragher to take a swipe at him
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher took a swipe at Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese led out the Red Devils to a 1-0 defeat against a solid Wolves team.
Ronaldo was captaining Manchester United on the night but was more of a peripheral figure on the pitch as the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward struggled to impact the game making just three touches inside the opposition box.
The United forward was restricted to just one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes with fellow Portuguese teammate Joao Moutinho stealing the headlines with an 82nd-minute strike that sealed maximum points for Wolves at Old Trafford.
Jamie Carragher who had recently criticized Ronaldo yet again, made a cheeky remark after United's defeat on Monday night as reported by Sportskeeda.
The Ex-Liverpool defender had earlier criticized the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese was signed from Juventus but was attacked by Patrice Evra who was once a teammate to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United The Mirror reports.
“There's a lot of talk about this player and I really don't understand it,”
“Some player like Jamie Carragher, he had 775 games, today Cristiano scored 801 goals. And those kind of people talk about Cristiano.
“Sometimes I just think people have to stay in their lane and I don't understand that hate." Evra was quoted as saying.
Carragher however took to Twitter to share his feelings about the game. The former Liverpool defender tweeted that he was 'getting back out of the lane' in a direct jab towards his former rival Patrice Evra.
