According to Soccer Laduma, while the couple seemed happy, all had not been well and that the authorities had been called in to intervene. According to the report, the Bafana Bafana player will have to appear in court on 12 January, and was yet to comment on the allegations levelled against him.

Before then, Mvala will have to endure the court of public opinion, with Sports Brief readers having their say on the developments.

Ricardo Van Rensburg said:

"Send him to jail and keep him there. The big boys in jail will show him how to treat a lady."

Sabelo Mndeni responded:

"You don't even know another side of the story. What if she abused him verbally or emotionally, then even physically? After he responded she opened a case! You don't know what gents go through daily."

Tswana Tsoko said:

"It's not like they going to hear his side of the story. They've already decided about the male counterpart."

Tiisetso Nketla was disappointed:

"This boy, mara! Men, can I speak louder: Please stop abusing women. This thing is a trap to destroy us... oh Jesus!"

Jerry Koso was cynical:

"Aaaa trust me, this case will not go anywhere. She will drop it..."
Ernest Marwa said:
"Yeah... Facebook is full of self proclaimed advocates. People must learn to read and scroll down."
