  • A jovial fan turned into a streaker when he ran onto the pitch at the Pooe Festival Games 'Kasi World Cup in the Vaal
  • After whizzing around on the pitch he dove past the goal line, where he narrowly missed a rock and serious injury
  • Amused Mzansi social media wondered if he was sober, he was entertaining the buyer of booze he didn't pay or if he was showing off how heavy his pockets were

It's football festival time across South Africa during the December holidays, and spectators will see the weird and the wonderful.

It was no different at the Pooe Festive Games 'Kasi World Cup' in Evaton (Vaal) when a fan pulled off a moment of madness to much laughter in a viral video. With a match underway, he streaked on to the pitch, before diving in a puddle of mud.

His sobriety already in question - there were tell-tale liquor bottles nearby - the moment of mirth almost turned to horror as he nearly smashed head-on into a rock inconveniently located next to the pitch. There are hopes that he knew where this rock was, because if he did not, it was a welcome fluke that he missed it.

The video had racked up nearly 20 000 views, with viewers giving their take on the craziness.

@Zuma_Mazwi joked:

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but this guy didn't contribute when they were buying alcohol, so he's just making sure abathengile are entertained."

@maphatsoesenyan replied:

"No you are wrong. He's the main man with big wallet. After this stunt one will have to take off his clothes so that he may change."

@mthi4life lamented:

"This is why we pay higher premiums."

@sydneygxekwa had in interesting theory:

Let's cancel this bonus thing in December. People are too happy.

Robert Marawa and social media respond to tasty chiefs media statement

Media personality Robert Marawa was one of many observers who gave wide-ranging responses to the Kaizer Chiefs' postponement request saga.

The Amakhosi requested that Premier Soccer League (PSL) postpone its December fixtures because of a debilitating Covid-19 outbreak at the club. After dragging its feet, the PSL summarily slapped down the appeal.

Marawa took out a tetchy quote from within the Amakhosi's media statement responding to the PSL's judgement, starting an interesting multi-faceted debate. Read more:
