  • From the deserts of Namibia and the tropics of Indonesia, to the wilds of Botswana and beaches of South Africa, excitement for 2022 was spread out across the globe
  • They showed that family comes first when it comes to ushering in a new year, opting to spend time with their loved ones at home or away

The irrepressible MaMkhize crossed into 2022 somewhere "in the middle of nowhere", Namibia, according to her Instagram page. The business mogul, socialite, television star and Royal AM owner appeared to be on mission of guilt-free indulgence out in the sandy deserts and beaches of the country, never missing the opportunity to snap a picture here and shoot a video there.

2. Siphiwe Tshabalala

Legendary Bafana Bafana winger and current free agent Siphiwe Tshabalala was with his wife, former Miss South Africa Bokang Montjane, though the pair did not specify their location. Exchanging messages of love with one another, they were at one with nature, including a visit to a zoo.

3. Itumeleng Khune

Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goalminder Itumeleng and his wife Sphelele inspired envy when they rang in the new year in Bali, Indonesia. The couple was blessed with a second child, a daughter, in 2021, so while Khune was relegated to the stands at Kaizer Chiefs, he had wins to celebrate away from the pitch.

4. Siya Kolisi

Mzansi's favourite sports couple Siya and Rachel Kolisi were part of a lovely snap leaping in the air out in the wilds of Botswana.

Apart from South Africans everywhere, Kolisi also sent a message to those involved at the Kolisi Foundation, saying:

"We live lives of purpose when we use our experiences, talents, and passions to better the lives of others. May we never tire in the work rebuilding our land and inspiring one another to do so even more.
"Thank you to the incredible Kolisi Foundation team, that works tirelessly behind the scenes.Thank you for challenging Rachel @rachelkolisi and I to think deeper and act more compassionately about meaningful change in our country. We are truly better together. Happy New Year."

5. Makazole Mapimpi

Sharks and Springbok hero Makazole Mapimpi showed off the kind of physique we all have in mind on our New Year's resolution list at the beach.

He said:

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for the love and support this past year. Looking forward to an even better year in 2022. Asibe Happy."

Angry Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel reacts to Sadio Mane’s apparent elbow on Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has suggested that Sadio Mane should have been sent off as early as the first minute during their 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

As Sports Brief reported, the highly entertaining fixture produced four world class goals in the first half as both sides took the game at each other in a bid to win all three points.

But just seconds into the game, Senegalese star Mane escaped red after an apparent elbow on Blues captain Cesar Azpiicueta.
