The 2022 FIFA World Cup is here, and the United States national team is more than prepared for it. The team has reached out to players from different clubs in different leagues and is ready to represent the nation in the most prestigious soccer tournament. The roster has been ranked position 16 and is the youngest squad in the competition.

The USA has appeared in eleven FIFA World Cups since the first in 1930, reaching the semi-finals but missing the 2018 edition in Russia. On 10 November 2022, Gregg Berhalter named his 26-man squad but surprisingly did not go well with the country's pundits. However, the stars and stripes are full of hope of making an impact in Doha, where they kick off with their first match against Wales on 21 November. But first, here is the American squad's profile.

The USA World Cup squad 2022 is an amazing squad that has great potential in the competition. Here are some of the best players in the team.

  • Sergino Dest
  • Matt Turner
  • Christian Pulisic
  • Weston McKennie

Christian Pulisic is one undoubted star for the roaster and is expected to lead the attack in Qatar. Playing fewer minutes at Chelsea, he is expected to re-energize as he awaits the tough competition.

Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson are a unique duo from Leeds United that have made it to Gregg's 26-man squad. While it is the debut for both of them in the competition, their chemistry and midfield strength, as seen in their club, is expected to be reflected in the tournament.

Weston McKennie is another midfield strength for the team. His partnership with Adams and Yunus goes unmatched, with great strength and skill, and has occasionally been dubbed 'MMA'. The trio's health is of great importance as they are the team's core, playing a huge role in both attack and defence while matching up to the world's best midfielders.

On 10 October 2022, the team's manager, Gregg Berhalter, revealed his 26-man squad that would represent the U.S. in Qatar 2022. Their strength is mainly in the midfield, with the trio, McKennie, Adams, and Yunus expected to do their usual best in the area.

Also, after years of weakness, they have new strengths at the fullback position. Antonee Robinson on the left and Sergino Dest on the right are expected to be significant stoppers of any opponent's attack as Berhalter works a tactical approach around the pair's strength.

Team USA's World Cup 2022 jersey

Team USA is off to an amazing new look at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Their new jersey features a bold and reimagined design with a mix of modern and traditional styling. The home uniform is the traditional white with a timeless red and blue colour scheme, representing the country's diversity. The away kit is royal blue, with a blotchy, tie-dye effect, and has a more modern design than the last.

The Nike uniforms symbolize pride for the team and country, inspiring unity, diversity, and togetherness. Most importantly, the kits celebrate Nike and U.S. Soccer's commitment to expanding the game to the next generations on and off the pitch.

Cristian Pulisic is the team's left winger and is expected to lead the team in offensive threats. He is by far the biggest name on the team and the most popular American player. He is also the only U.S. player to win the most decorated club cup in history, the UEFA Champions League.

USA's world cup team's average age

The U.S. squad is projected to be the youngest roster in Qatar. The 26-man squad has an average age of 24 years 175 days, just a year younger than Ghana's 25.67. With a lack of experience, the youngsters will use their energy, skill, and tactics to their advantage against more experienced teams.

Why are pundits against the U.S. squad?

After Gregg Berhalter announced the 26-man roster to represent the U.S. in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, some were devastated and did not agree, especially with one decision he made. The selection of Antalyaspor's striker Haji Wright leaving out Ricardo Pepi, Jordan Pefok, and Brandon Vazquez, came as a shock to many. Former Bolton midfielder and USA international Stuart Holden said,

"I think Haji Wright, is ultimately, a break-glass-in-case-of-an-emergency type player with his big, physical frame. I don't think you see him starting a game. I think it would have to get pretty deep down the line and Gregg's gameplan isn't to see Haji Wright start."
