The young Abdul Fatawu Issahaku dazzled spectators on the outskirts of the city while running around in his full Utrecht FC kit. Publications reveal that he was a member of the U13 team that won the tournament in Ghana's Northern Region. They then went to Nigeria for a tournament, and he scored in the final.
Fatawu didn't just score in the championship game. He won the regional tournament with 13 goals and stunned everyone. Even at that young age, you could tell by his skill and mentality that he would become a special player as he matured.
At the age of fifteen, he joined Steadfast FC from Utrecht Football Academy for a record fee in 2019. During his first season, he quickly established himself as one of the league's most talented players, scoring eight goals and assisting five in 13 games before the league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his second season, he scored 12 goals and assisted on 12 others in 14 league games, earning eight man-of-the-match awards. After the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, Fatawu was linked to several European clubs, including Liverpool, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and Sporting CP.
Issahaku joined Dreams on loan until October 2022. In the same month, he was named to The Guardian's "Next Generation 2021," where he was dubbed "arguably the best African prospect of his generation."

He was a member of Ghana's U17 squad in 2018. In 2020, He represented Ghana and served as captain of the national under-17 team, competing in the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers for 2021. He scored the equalizing penalty in Ghana's 1-1 draw with Nigeria during the tournament.
Ghana was eliminated from the competition after a 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast. Issahaku assisted Ghana's only goal of the game.
The 2021 U20 AFCON tournament provided the ideal platform for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's brilliance to show. Fatawu dominated almost every game at the tournament as the architect of a phenomenal Ghana team.
He appeared in all of the Black Satellites' matches during the competition, scoring two goals in the group stages to help his team win the title for the fourth time in its history. On that occasion, he was also named the Tournament's Best Player.

Fatawu made his debut for Ghana senior team, nicknamed the Black Stars in a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in September 2021. He was the Ghanaian team's youngest player and the fourth youngest at the Africa Cup of Nations. He has also appeared in a number of games for the Black Stars in 2022.
Sporting CP signed him to a five-year contract in April 2022. Signed from Ghanaian lower league side Steadfast, the teenager had a brief loan spell with local Premier League outfit Dreams before heading to Portugal in February to begin training with Sporting ahead of his 18th birthday.
