Formula 1 headed to the sunny tropical island of Singapore in South East Asia for the first race of the away legs of the 2023 season.
Champions Red Bull are on a run of 15 successive race victories dating back to the end of last season and were on course to make it a record consecutive 16. However, a race victory for the Milton Keynes team now looks a tall order following their series of inconsistent performances during the Practice sessions.
The Austrian team’s performance on the weekend was summed up with their disappointing qualifying, which saw drivers Verstappen and Sergio Perez 11th and 13th, respectively, on the hot and humid Singapore night, as reported by RacingNews365.
The results recorded by the team at the Marina Bay Street Circuit have left driver and championship leader Verstappen frustrated, and the Dutch driver has, aired his take on the team’s performance on the weekend.
Verstappen on Red Bull’s Singapore performance
The Red Bull driver who is on course to secure of his third consecutive championship, spoke to Sky Sports F1 following his disappointing qualifying:
"I knew it would always be tough to put it on pole. But this I didn't expect,"
"Throughout the weekend, we have been struggling. FP3 was actually not too bad but then we tried a few more things on the car for qualifying and that tipped it over where it became undrivable again.
"It's just a shocking experience, and then trying to lean on the car in the slow speed, I was constantly sliding and no traction, just really difficult to drive."

FootballVerstappen also shared the same thought as his teammate Perez on chances of securing victory.
"You can't pass. On other tracks, you can start last and win the race. But not here."
Red Bull will hope they can secure as many points as available when the light goes out at the Marina Bay Circuit on Sunday.
Singapore Grand Prix Practice disrupted by Godzilla
Sports Brief in a previous report stated that reptiles disrupted Friday’s Practice session in Singapore.
During Free Practice 1 (FP1), the focus shifted from racing technicalities and data analysis as an unexpected twist stole the spotlight.
The Marina Bay circuit, situated amidst the city’s green spaces, is inhabited by giant reptiles, including monitor lizards, which invaded the track whilst the drivers where making their rounds on the circuit.
