- McLaren's CEO has weighed in on the F1 movie
Formula 1 2023 British Grand Prix will have an extra Hollywood factor with the race becoming a film set for Brad Pitt and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.
Formula 1 fans who dream of being in a Hollywood movie could now have their prayers answered, with the shooting of a new F1 movie set to get underway at Silverstone this weekend.
The film is co-produced by seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, and anticipation is rising with Pitt spotted at recent Grand Prix, including the US race in Texas last season.
It is also headed up by legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer, responsible for the Top Gun films, and he is expected to be at Silverstone.
Zak Brown discusses Pitt’s movie
One of the most prominent Americans on the grid, McLaren CEO Zak Brown discussed the project while speaking to the media on Monday, and thinks it will have an even bigger impact than the Netflix series Drive to Survive.
“I think definitely [it will have a big impact],” Zak Brown as quoted by talksports said.
“I think we all wanted to be a pilot after watching Top Gun and I think it will have the same impact on the audience, it’s a lot of the same producers.
“It’s a massive production and I think it will get a lot of current fans excited but I think a lot of people who don’t follow the sport will see it and think it’s unbelievable.
“I think the technology they’re going to use will make it a racing movie unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the past as far as it’s realism and it will be another shot in the arm for Formula 1 worldwide and motor racing as a whole.”
