2023 ICC World Test Championship Final

Head showed his worth in the ICC World Test Championship Final against India last June, leading Australia to victory in the one-off test.

He managed scores of 163 and 18 to capture Player of the Match honours, per the ICC.

Head steadied the ship for Australia after they fell to 76/3 on the opening day at the Oval. He combined with Steve Smith for a staggering 285-run partnership that swung the momentum in the Aussies’ favour.

2023 Cricket World Cup Semi-final

Head was brilliant with both bat and ball in Australia’s semi-final victory over South Africa. He helped the Aussies bowl out the Proteas for just 212 in the first innings, taking two wickets in a critical juncture.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller built a 94-run partnership for South Africa in the semis after their top order collapsed in the opening stages of the match.

Just when it seemed the Proteas were headed for a big score, Head struck, picking up Klaasen’s wicket first and then knocking down Jansen.

He then gave Australia a positive start with their innings, scoring 62 off 48 balls to help with the run chase.

They eventually defeated South Africa by three wickets with 16 balls remaining to set up a dream final with India.

2023 Cricket World Cup Final

Head helped Australia win their sixth 50-over title with a ruthless display with the bat.

The Indians sent their fans into a frenzy when Australia collapsed to 47/3 after taking the wickets of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Steve Smith in the first seven overs.

Like in the Test Championship Final, Head steadied the ship for Australia yet again.

He formed a brilliant fourth-wicket partnership with Marnus Labuschagne, combining for 192 runs that sucked the life out of the Indian crowd.

The majority of those runs came from Head, who hit a fantastic 137 from 120 balls, per The Guardian.

Before stunning India with his batting prowess, Head also had a momentum-swinging catch in the first innings.

He took a crucial catch to dismiss the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who had already scored 47 runs off 31 balls at that stage.

Sharma’s dismissal slowed India’s vaunted attack, as they only mustered 240 runs in their innings.
