Who are the participants?

A total of 10 teams will participate in the Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Eight have already booked their places through the Cricket World Cup Super League, namely: India, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

A qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which concludes on July 9, will determine the two teams that will complete the cast.

What is the tournament format?

Each participating team plays the other nine sides in a round-robin format.

The top four teams after the round-robin group stage qualify for the semifinals. Two knockout matches will be played in the semis, with the winners of those games squaring off in the finals.

Games to watch

England vs New Zealand

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will play host to the opening game of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, with defending champion England taking on New Zealand in a rematch of the epic 2019 Final on October 5, per Indian Express.

India vs Australia

Hosts India then start their campaign three days later against five-time World Cup winners Australia in a blockbuster clash in Chennai on October 8.

India defeated Pakistan in a high-scoring encounter in their last meeting in the 2019 World Cup, per ICC.

The Indians would want nothing more than to avenge their loss against the Black Caps in the World Cup semis four years ago.

The last time these two sides met on a World Cup stage was in the T20 last year, with England crushing India in the semis.

Once that Test showdown ends, their focus will switch to the World Cup. England and Australia will square off in Ahmedabad on November 4 in a rematch of the 2019 World Cup semifinals.

England cruised to victory in that contest.

England vs Pakistan

The final group match of the 2023 Cricket World Cup will feature England and Pakistan. The two sides met in the final of the T20 World Cup last year, with England emerging victorious in that match.
