Racism

Despite the ICC Anti-racism policies for International cricket, Hashim, like almost every other non-white cricket player, has been subjected to racist remarks. For example, during a 2006 Test match against Sri Lanka, former cricketer and commentator Dean Jones was heard calling Amla a 'terrorist' on live TV.

In a show of defiance, he has stood up against the vice with other black cricket players such as Lungi Ngidi. During the Black Lives Matter movement, he joined countless other public figures in protesting against racism in cricket in an Instagram post, saying,

The imagined superiority of whites over blacks or blacks over whites, or one nationality over another, is simply delusional. Yes, that's right- nothing but delusional. Many of us, including myself, have borne the brunt of these delusions and have crazy stories to tell. I speak for myself and those who share this belief that the end product of being racist is only self-destruction.
