Mike Tyson is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Although he has many iconic moments in the ring, the heavyweight legend had an unforgettable moment in 1997 during his clash with Evander Holyfield.

The 57-year-old bit the ear of his opponent and recently revisited that strange incident that is still fresh in the minds of boxing fans.

Tyson enjoyed a rapid rise in the boxing world in the 1980s following his win over Trevor Berbick. He became the youngest heavyweight champion in history.

Although many expected Tyson to solidify his dominance, his decline quickly began after beating Berbick. Issues outside the ring tarnished his image, and his decline was on full display when he was defeated in 1990.

On February 11, 1990, James “Buster” Douglas upset the once-invincible heavyweight star. He went to prison in the early 1990s after he was convicted of sexual assault.

After prison, Tyson regained his heavyweight belts and faced Holyfield in 1996. Holyfield defeated Tyson with an 11th-round TKO to take the WBA title.

In a rematch in 1997, Holyfield was even more dominant in the opening rounds, and many felt he would win the fight.

In the third round, Tyson bit his opponent's right ear, then bit the other one after a brief stoppage. The incident saw Tyson get disqualified, per History.

Years after the incident, the legendary boxer showed no remorse as he revisited that unforgettable moment.

"I bit him because I wanted to kill him. I was really mad about my head being bumped and everything," Tyson said. "I really lost consciousness of the whole fight. It took me out of my fight plan and everything," via CBS Sports.

He added that he would likely do it again.

"I hope not," Tyson responded. "I say, 'No, never ever again.' But I might do it again. Well if he does what he was doing to get bitten, I would bite him again. Yeah."

Tyson won 50 fights in his career, 44 by knockout. he lost six fights. He last boxed professionally in 2006 and will clash with YouTuber Jake Paul in July, per Bleacher Report.

Tyson hangs out with Holyfield

Sports Brief earlier reported on Tyson and Holyfield hanging out together, 27 years after the ear-biting incident.

Earlier this year, Tyson shared a photo of himself and Holyfield with the caption, 'We've come a long way since the bite fight'. The two seemed to have buried the hatchet.
