As noted by LowKickMMA, McGregor confirmed that he will be attending the fight between the WBC Heavyweight champion and the former UFC Heavyweight champion.

McGregor announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he would attend the fight, having competed in a crossover fight against Floyd Mayweather. Not only will he attend the fight, but he will also reunite with the Al-Nassr star, who will also be at the fight.

Ronaldo has been central to some of the marketing around the fight.

How Ronaldo and McGregor became friends

While they are an unlikely pairing, the duo became good friends in 2016. CR7 reached out to the MMA star after he wore a pair of the footballer’s designer underwear during a weigh-in for one of his fights.

They became friends and even trained together in a cage, with McGregor joking about their friendship, ESPN reported.

"He's a nice guy, he's in some shape. He went more abs, I went more lats. I'd slap the head off him, but he's a very nice guy, and he was in tremendous shape, he's a true athlete," McGregor said at the time.

McGregor earns more than Ronaldo

While they are good friends, it didn’t stop the former UFC champion from trolling the Al-Nassr player in 2021.

As noted by The Independent, The Notorious poked fun at Ronaldo when he realised he earned more than the footballer on Forbes’ rich list. The first time they met. McGregor already joked about wanting to pass Ronaldo on the list.
