Legendary boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has disclosed that he did not witness Tupac Shakur’s shooting, contrary to recent rumours.

Tupac passed away on September 13, 1996, six days after an unknown gunman in a white Cadillac shot him four times in the chest at a stoplight in Las Vegas.

Only recently, old footage re-emerged of Mayweather showing director and screenwriter, John Singleton, where the rapper's murder had taken place.

The clip was misrepresented in the media, with several reports claiming the boxer was a witness to the shooting.

46-year-old Mayweather has now disclosed that his living near the scene of the incident was only a coincidence, adding he had not witnessed the crime.

He wrote on Instagram:

"In 1996 when Tupac Shakur was killed, I lived in the Meridian Apartments located on Flamingo and Koval Ln., which just so happens to be the area where Tupac was shot."
"I have never said I witnessed the shooting. All of these false accusations stem from me sharing the location of the shooting with John Singleton due to my familiarity of the area since I lived there. This does not mean I witnessed Tupac’s shooting."

Mayweather explained that at the time, Singleton was making a documentary or film about Tupac and had reached out to the former boxer due to his knowledge of the area.

"John was my friend, so I showed him this location with no hesitation. The location of Tupac’s shooting is public knowledge and me living near there was just a coincidence. I did not witness Tupac Shakur’s death."

Mayweather snubbed by fans

Previously, Sports Brief reported on Mayweather surprisingly being snubbed by fans when in the presence of heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, at an event.

Instead of gravitating towards 'Money, AJ instead stole the spotlight. Almost every fan wanted a photo with the British star instead of the undefeated American.

Mayweather seemed to take the moment in good spirits, having previously acknowledged Joshua and appearing to have developed a mentor bond with the Briton.
