  • Chaos erupted when Gotti went rogue after the referee made a decision he did not like
  • The veteran boxer dominated the bout proving he could still do it years after retirement

There was absolute pandemonium in Floyd Mayweather's latest exhibition match against John Gotti III in Florida.

After the referee, Kenny Bayless stepped in to disqualify Gotti III and wave off the fight, all hell broke loose as people stormed the ring.

The bout was another chance for Mayweather to show he could still box at 46, following a decorated career where he went 50-0.

Money's last professional bout came in 2017 and the bout vs. Gotti marked his seventh exhibition match. He has fought Logan Paul, Deji Olatunji, and Aaron Chalmers in other exhibition matches recently.

However, the match was anything but that. The veteran boxer dominated the fight, mostly toying with Gotti, but his showboating drew the ire of the crowd at FLA Live Arena, per USA Today.

Mayweather, Gotti III - what happened?

There was tension before the match, according to DAZN. Mayweather's security team had to clear people from Gotti's corner.

Then, in the sixth round, the match descended into chaos.

Bayless had warned the two boxers about trash-talking and using abusive language. None of them heeded the warnings. Midway through the 6th round, Gotti was disqualified by Bayless for constantly grabbing his opponent.

Gotti was furious with the decision. He shoved the referee aside and began charging Mayweather before swinging at the legendary boxer.

Gotti's aggression prompted Mayweather's team to storm the ring to protect their boxer and retaliate. Gotti's entourage also swiftly moved into the ring to pull him away from the ensuing chaos.

It was an ugly scene in the end as the two were escorted out of the ring. Gotti was competing in his third boxing match and entered the bout with a 2-0 record, per Bleacher Report.

Mayweather buys $1m gold chain

Sports Brief also reported on Mayweather splashing $1 million on a new white gold chain by Johnny Dang to treat himself.

The jewellery piece is made of white gold and contains 8 500 diamonds, featuring the letters TMT - for 'The Money Team'.

Dang took to Instagram to share a video of himself personally delivering the chain to Mayweather, who remains a boxing star.
