Edgar Meza (June 9, 2016)

Garcia started his professional boxing career with a bang, knocking out Edgar Meza in the first round. The 17-year-old made his debut south of the border in a Tijuana bar.

Garcia revealed that the conditions were far from ideal in that contest, with his first fight only having a handful of spectators and no official referee.

That didn’t deter Garcia from delivering a spectacular performance. He punished Meza with a barrage of body shots, leaving the referee no choice but to end the fight.

Fernando Vargas (March 22, 2018)

Garcia made short work of Fernando Vargas in their featherweight bout, knocking him out at the 2:55 mark of the first round.

Vargas came out firing out of the blocks, with the 29-year-old journeyman looking to exchange with “KingRy.”

That turned out to be a bad idea, as Garcia soon began exerting his authority in the fight. He stunned Vargas with a devastating right hand. Garcia followed that up with another vicious right hand before sending Vargas to the canvas with a punishing left hook.

After absorbing Garcia's lethal combination, Vargas desperately tried to continue fighting but could not beat the count. Garcia improved his record to 14-0 with the knockout win.

Romero Duno (November 2, 2019)

Duno was expected to give the undefeated Garcia his toughest test yet. That didn’t materialize, with Garcia needing just 98 seconds to knock out the Filipino fighter.

Garcia staggered Duno with a straight right hand, breaking the latter’s guard. Garcia then unloaded a combination, hitting Duno with another right hand and a vicious left hook.

That punch grazed Duno’s temple, causing him to drop to the canvas. He couldn’t recover, forcing the referee to wave off the contest.

Francisco Fonseca (February 14, 2020)

Many thought Fonseca would give Garcia a tough battle in their lightweight bout. He entered the contest sporting a 25-2 record with 19 knockouts.

Garcia showed he was the real deal, however, violently knocking out his opponent in just 80 seconds. He caught Fonseca with a devastating left hook after the latter threw a right hand.

With Fonseca lying on the canvas, the referee had no choice but to stop the fight.

Garcia improved his record to 20-0 with the stunning knockout victory.

Luke Campbell (January 2, 2021)

Campbell sent the fans into a frenzy when he dropped Garcia with a stunning left hook in the second round of their fight.

That shocked the people watching, as Garcia had never been knocked down before in his professional boxing career. There was no panic from Garcia, who recovered exceptionally well after beating the count.

He started dominating and landed the killer blow in the seventh round when he hit Campbell with a crunching body shot, per BBC.

That brought the 2012 Olympic gold medalist to his knees, forcing the referee to end the fight.

Garcia's rehydration clause

Sports Brief recently reported on the Davis vs. Garcia fight.

Garcia said in an interview that Davis’ camp insisted on a 10-pound rehydration clause for him.

That means if Garcia weighs 136 pounds during the weigh-in, he needs to enter the fight against Davis weighing 146 pounds or less.
