Ghanaian boxer, Samuel Takyi, knocked out Samuel Moses of Nigeria in the first round at the Teslim Balogun Sports Stadium in Lagos on Sunday, August 28.

The 21-year-old boxer completely destroyed 36-year-old Samuel Moses in just the first round of the bout to bag his third professional career win in sensational style.

This is Takyi’s third career fight, where he has won by a knockout following two previous victories in a similar fashion against veteran Kamalrudeen Boyefio in April and Mandlenkosi Sibuso in June.

Takyi, who won men's featherweight bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, vowed to replicate his amateur success at the professional level

“I am now a professional boxer and I am no more an amateur boxer again.
“I am begging Ghanaians to give me the same support they gave me at the amateur level at the professional level as well.
“I promise them that I am going to become a world champion at the professional level,” he stated via CitiSports.

Samuel Takyi wins Ghana's first Olympic medal in any sport in almost three decades

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian boxer, Samuel Takyi, has imprinted his name in the sands of time after winning his Olympic quarter-final to earn a medal at Tokyo 2020.

The 20-year-old athlete won the first Olympic medal for Ghana after nearly three decades. Takyi triumphed over Colombia's 32-year-old David Ceiber Avila, a far more experienced fighter to attain the feat.

The Ghanaian athlete will face USA's Ragan Duke in the semi-final. Duke defeated Irish boxer, Kurt Walker, in his quarter-final bout, according to olympics.com.
