  • Anthony Joshua could be back inside the rings by December, barely four months after losing a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk
  • Joshua disclosed that he wants to return as early as possible, but Hearn suggested the last month of the year
  • According to the boxing promoter, there are more fights for Joshua, rubbishing the retirement claims

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that Anthony Joshua, who lost his rematch to Oleksandr Usyk, could return to the rings by December 2022.

Although Joshua put up an improved fight against Usyk in their second bout, he was defeated by a split decision at the packed King Abdullah Sports Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Quite a number of professionals and pundits had stated that AJ could retire if he lost again. However, his promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that Joshua will return.

“I spoke to Eddie and asked him if it’s possible to get out in November because momentum is important in boxing. Eddie said December.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Sunday, Hearn said there were plenty of great fights still to come for Joshua. Hearn said:

“People talked in the build-up about him retiring.
“It’s about passion. It’s about if you still want it. You could see how much he wanted it by his post-fight interview. I’d like to see him back out. Maybe even in late December.”

Boxing judge explains why he favoured Joshua as the winner

Sports Brief earlier reported that Judge Glenn Feldman has explained his controversial scorecard decision in the most-recent Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua rematch staged in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk put in a dazzling performance as he defeated Anthony Joshua via split-decision to defend his unified heavyweight world titles and added the Ring Magazine belt in their bout on Saturday night.

In a fight dominated by Usyk, boxing enthusiasts who monitored the bout felt the Ukrainian should have won unanimously, but to the utter surprise of the boxing world, Judge Feldman viewed the rematch differently.
