Floyd Mayweather moves into motosport by launching his own NASCAR racing team

• Boxer Floyd Mayweather has unveiled a NASCAR team, The Money Team Racing, at Daytona 500.
• The Money Team Racing will be aiming to compete on a part-time schedule throughout the year.
• Mayweather joins basketball icon Michael Jordan as a NASCAR team owner.

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather is moving into motorsport by unveiling 'The Money Team Racing' ahead of the Daytona 500 NASCAR later this month.

'The Money Team Racing' will aim at qualifying for the Daytona 500 NASCAR in Florida as well competing on a part-time schedule throughout the year.

Mayweather took to Twitter to officially announce his new venture into motosport, with a video of the dazzling multi-coloured car being unveiled, captioning the post: "TMT AT THE DAYTONA 500 2022!!!!"

Mayweather is not the only celebrity to become a NASCAR team owner, following the footsteps of fellow sports stars Michael Jordan, LeBron James and chart-topping musician Pitbull.

The 15-time boxing champion said in a news release:

"I love fast cars and I love to compete. I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me."

"With that being said, this move into auto racing seems to be a perfect fit for the Mayweather brand."

The General Manager for Mayweather's team is William Auchmoody, who personally advised the legendary boxer to get into the sport.

Auchmoody said:

"He [Mayweather] loves cars. I met him a couple of years ago and had the conversation, 'Man, you should check NASCAR out'.

"He started watching it a little bit and next thing you know, I'm in Las Vegas and were hashing out the details of what it would look like to get involved in NASCAR."
