The LSU Tigers are kings of the baseball world once again.
They defeated the Florida Gators 18-4 in Game 3 of the Men’s College World Series on Monday night to win their seventh national championship.
The Tigers bounced back strongly after suffering a humiliating 24-2 loss to the Gators in Game 2.
Tigers make history vs. Gators
They erased an early 2-0 deficit, scoring six runs against Florida starter, Jac Caglianone in the second inning, per ESPN.
The Tigers kept piling the runs, finishing with the most in a title-deciding game since USC recorded a 21-14 victory over Arizona State in 1998.
They also had 24 hits in the winner-take-all contest, the most in an MCWS game.
Hurd delivers pitching masterclass
Thatcher Hurd starred for the Tigers in Game 3, allowing just two runs on two hits and two walks in six innings of action.
He buckled down after allowing a two-run homer in the first inning, retiring 18 of the next 21 batters he faced.
Riley Cooper and Gavin Guidry pitched in relief, finishing the combined five-hitter for LSU.
The Tigers swarmed the mound after Guidry recorded the final out.
Skenes carries Milazzo after win
Paul Skenes did the heavy lifting one last time for LSU, carrying catcher Alex Milazzo to the field to celebrate the win with them, per NOLA.com.
Milazzo injured himself badly after an awkward slide at home and had to leave Game 3 early.
The Tigers ace wouldn’t let Milazzo miss out on the celebrations, lifting him to the dogpile after the final pitch was thrown.

MLBSkenes was named the Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series, an honor he rightfully deserved. He hurled a combined 243 pitches over 15.2 innings in two spectacular starts for LSU.

He recorded his 2,000th hit in the Dodgers’ loss to the Astros.
Freeman accomplished the milestone with an RBI double in the eighth inning.
