Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme Alobwede clinched the gold medal in the men's 100-meter final with an electrifying performance at the ongoing 2023 African Games.
Despite a slow start, the 30-year-old sprinter surged ahead to claim victory, leaving Itsekiri Usheoritse from Nigeria in second place and Namibia's Gilbert Hainuca in third.
Eseme, who had already demonstrated his speed by clocking the fastest time in the semi-finals with 10.23 seconds, was widely regarded as the favourite for the event, despite the strong support for homegrown talent Benjamin Azamati, the national record holder, per Ghanaweb.
