Eseme takes gold, Azamati disappoints

Eseme, who had already demonstrated his speed by clocking the fastest time in the semi-finals with 10.23 seconds, was widely regarded as the favourite for the event, despite the strong support for homegrown talent Benjamin Azamati, the national record holder, per Ghanaweb.

Regardless, in an impressive display of speed, Eseme outdid his own semi-final performance, crossing the finish line in first place with a remarkable time of 10.14s, according to African Games.

Usheoritse secured the silver medal with a time of 10.23s, while Hainuca claimed the bronze with a time of 10.29s.

Unfortunately, Azamati, buoyed by the fervent support of the home crowd, faltered in the final race, finishing in fifth place with a time of 10.45s.

His compatriot, Barnabas Aggerh, followed closely behind in sixth place with a time of 10.50 seconds, contributing to a disappointing outing for Team Ghana.

Meanwhile, Mauritius' Bibi Gary Noa Jereel finished in seventh place, while Gambia's Camara Ebrahima brought up the rear in eighth position.
